My Life in Tracks: OK Computer By Radiohead

My Life in Tracks: OK Computer By Radiohead

Music has a way of embedding itself into our lives, shaping the way we create, think, and exist. For me, Radiohead’s OK Computer has been one of those albums. An essential companion through countless hours of design, sadness and inspiration.

When it dropped in May of 1997, OK Computer immediately became time-stamped into my life. That was the same time my mom was in a coma, just a few months before she eventually passed away in August. I was 21, and everything felt surreal, like I was floating through a world that didn’t make sense anymore. This album, with its detached yet deeply human sound, mirrored that feeling in a way nothing else could.

It wasn’t just an album; it was an experience. The mechanical pulse of Airbag, the paranoia-drenched intensity of Paranoid Android, and the aching beauty of Let Down created a world that felt both alien and deeply personal. It was like Radiohead had somehow scored the emotions I couldn’t put into words.

What keeps me coming back is its mood. Thom Yorke’s fractured lyrics, the cold warmth of the production, it mirrors the way I work, diving into design with equal parts control and chaos. When I’m buried in a project, chasing an idea that’s just out of reach, OK Computer is the perfect backdrop. It reminds me that imperfection, tension, and emotion are what make something feel real.

Late nights working on new TC designs, OK Computer is on. It’s an album that keeps me moving forward, even when the process feels overwhelming.

What albums do you turn to when you need to get lost in your work?
